The person who protects Zen books and sacrifices his life has no merit but good blessings only.
Student asked:
A person just obtained the entry level of Zen Buddhism. When he was struggling to prevent others from burning the books of Zen Buddhism, he was pushed down and seriously injured to death. After he died, his family members said that they checked and saw the heat emitted from the top of his head. Please let me ask 3 questions as follows:
The first question is: Has this person, in previous lives, already followed this Zen Zong Dharma method?
The second question is: In order to protect Zen books, he sacrificed his life, so does he have merit?
The third question is: Can he return to the Buddha world?
Teacher replied:
To answer your first question: This person, in his past life, already knew Zen Buddhism.
To answer your second question: The person who protects Zen books and sacrifices his life has no merit but good blessings only.
To answer your third question: He cannot return to the Buddha World. If he wants to return to the Buddha World, he needs to meet 3 criteria:
First, he must have merit.
Second, he must desire to return home.
Third, he must know the way back.
