Could you please answer the question about the story of Buddha illuminating his father before King father passes away?
- Buddha asked the King Father: ''Do you see our country, Kapilavastu?''
- The King said: ''I see''.
- Buddha asked: ''Do you see the citadel of Kapilavastu?''
- The King said: ''I see''.
- Buddha asked: ''Do you see the crown on your head?''
- The King said: ''I see''.
Please teacher, I want to know whether it is a magic or a method to help the king father’s intermediate state body be released through his eyes so that his intermediate state body is transferred to Heaven. I have come to this explanation after learning your teaching about Face/Eyes to Heaven. Please help me clarify this answer. Another question is about how I can help my grandparents, parents and the deceased to return to the human’s ancestry or reincarnate to other blessed places?
Teacher replied:
In this cause and effect world: every person takes responsibility for his own life and karma. Even Buddha, who has great blessings, was unable to save his bloodline in danger. We, who only have enough blessing to become a human, should not expect to save anyone.
It is your luck to learn about Zen Buddhism, so you had better focus on creating merits for your journey back to Buddha World. Regarding your grandparents, parents and beloved ones, if you want to help them to liberate themselves from this world, you should find the most suitable way to help them. If they follow along, they can be free.
For you, in order to have merits, you should focus on creating merits but not think and act along physical practices that belong to this cause and effect world and that lead you out of the Buddha World. Please listen to Buddha’s verses:
The material world full of physical laws
Laws that spare no one
Zen Buddhism is born, following Zen study
Only Zen leads us out of reincarnation.
Escape the cause and effect law, you yourself must “stop”
Stop thinking of earthly affairs - Zen practice.
Each and every person has to perform their own karma
Don’t ever dream that any external force can help lead us out.
The story that Buddha asked his King Father has this meaning: Buddha tests his father’s ability for unlimited vision. If King Father opens his unlimited vision, he will be reincarnated to the Realm of the thirty-three gods (Tavatimsa heaven) as a result of having a son as the Almighty and Omniscient.
